Discover SHP Dynamic Method Pilates – A Fresh Approach to Movement!

Exciting news! I am thrilled to introduce SHP Dynamic Method Pilates, an innovative and engaging approach to Pilates that I will be offering starting Wednesday, 5th February at 7pm. If you're looking for a workout that blends strength, flow, and functional movement, this class is for you!

My Journey to SHP Dynamic Pilates

I first started my journey into fitness through yoga. Yoga provided me with an opportunity to build strength and calm my mind. However, as I grew as a teacher, I wanted to develop the strength needed for more advanced poses such as Handstand and Pincha. Yoga alone wasn’t giving me the strength I needed—there are only so many Chaturangas a person can do! I tried the gym, which did help, but the commitment was too much for me.

Then I discovered SHP Dynamic Pilates at SHP, where I also teach Power Yoga every Friday. This class was the perfect solution! It began standing, much like a yoga class, focusing on breathwork before transitioning into a blend of ballet, yoga, and Pilates movements for slow, controlled stretching. It then progressed into a series of dynamic Pilates movements, inspired by traditional Joseph Pilates techniques but performed standing. These movements were new to me, but the standing element made them stronger and more engaging than traditional matwork Pilates.

Some instructors incorporated weights to intensify the exercises, utilizing different levers of the body for added challenge. The music was fantastic, and the varied progressions made each session exciting. The class then transitioned into core-focused mat-based Pilates and yoga movements, before ending in Shavasana. Attending this class regularly not only made me stronger—helping me achieve my Handstand—but also improved my cardiovascular fitness. It was challenging, but also fun and engaging, with plenty of laughs along the way!

When I decided to open my own studio, I knew I had to bring this unique and effective style of class to my students to help them develop their strength, balance, and overall fitness.
